DBRAND skins: Sleek and Classy!

Pretty impressive these skins ain't they? Yes they are skins and not cases or covers that you would usually shop over Flipkart or Amazon on your mobile purchase in order to secure your device. DBrand is this Canadian company that manufactures these kind of Premium Looking Classy skins that are available for most of the Mobile Brands out there.

See below is the image for my iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black and I applied the Matt Finish Skins to my iPhone. However, it was really foolish of me to forget to order it with the Apple Logo Cutout.

How to order these?

I first noticed these skins, when I was going through Lew's Video from Unbox therapy, and subsequently I also noticed them in MKBHD's video's as well and then so on for other YouTubers. The most amazing part of this skin is that when you look at it, it definitely makes your phone shine out from the rest. Im more of a guy who likes using hard plastic back cases from Spigen. But these ones totally blew me away.

So then I went ahead to their website and started browsing it and realised, this is something different that usual cases you can get. They have tons of mobile phones who's skins are customisable which includes Back, Front, Logo, Sides , even Camera and Fingerprint Sensors! You can ask them for further customisation, I have not really tried it so I am not aware if they offer that.

They even have skins much before the phones are launched so that kind of gives you a head start to getting your skins before you get your phone. So as you can see below is a sample customisation page for an iPhone 7 Plus.

I have chosen a Carbon Fiber Black material for the Back and a White Marble finish for the Front of the phone. I have even asked for a Apple Cut Out. The whole thing just costs about hardly 19 USD which comes to about 1,254/- INR @ 1USD to 66 INR conversion. So if you order skins worth 35 USD they give you free shipping in your country. If you order is below 35 USD its just 1USD flat rate shipping. How cool is that? I mean I tried shipping costs through Viabox.com it was like 33 USD just for shipping via Aramex and 66 USD for shipping via Fedex and if your getting this at such a discount go for it!

You wont find these skins as of now in India, I just happened to notice them over Ebay and Amazon. On Amazon "Jindal Trading" has these cases. So you can click this link and check them out. Only DBrand can confirm the authenticity of these sellers in India.

Shipping time in India ?

The shipping time varies to different cities in India. From what I have read on the website on the shipping section, DBrand says it roughly takes about 10 - 20 Business days. I was pretty anxious about my order, rather excited for it to reach and did some research. On some forums, it says that people in metros get them in about 1 week or so. While in the semi-urban areas and urban areas you get them in 10 business days. I got mine in 10 business days. Rural areas there could be a possible of more number of days.

They do not provide any tracking facilities for shipments via USPS but in case you want it to be shipped through your choice of courier at additional fees please give it a try and see what they say.

Installation

Ok coming to the most interesting and important part of the product is the installation. It is kind of tough yeah! Kind of for new users. Even though it looks pretty cool and easy to install on their robot video, it definitely took me and my sister about 2 hours to install skins for 4 devices. They gave me 2 Micro-Fiber cloths along with the installation which is premium quality and if you buy it elsewhere its expensive.

You need to remember these points when installing.

1. Clean your device with the Micro-Fiber cloth free of dust. First install the back skin as per the video instructions. So make sure you go for the camera section first, coz if you mess it up then don't blame Dbrand for the pictures.

2. After applying the skin properly , making sure all edges are aligned, press down firmly. and rub the sides , center etc with the cloth and apply Heat using a Hair Dryer.

3. For full back installation you will have the two sides and top and bottom open so first blow dry and then firmly press and rub it. The more you heat and rub the better the finish.

4. I have also noticed that these skins stretch if pulled too much, so do not do that else your skins can overlap. Precision is also very important out here.

5. The front screens are very easy to install. Its the same way as shown in their video.

6. For the logo cut-outs and coloured logo like for the Google Pixel - It kind of looks tough in the video but it isnt so much . But make sure you order along with a Logo Cut-out.

Once you get a hang on the first installation then its cool. The easiest of the lot was the Galaxy S7 Edge and it looks fantastic. The toughest was the Pixel because mine had sharp corners, but Dbrand told me to smoothen them through heat application and pressing firmly and it worked.

Removal

I really have not yet tried to remove the skins, but even after applying for a long time say 1-2 days i tried just tampering with some edges and it reattached fine, and you need to blow dry again. I did see a removal video on YouTube. Check it out and give me your views.

Customer Service

The customer service and support from DBrand is fantastic. I don't know whether its a girl or a guy at the other end who's responding because its all signed as Robots. Its a pretty cool concept , including their team who works so hard in getting such precision onto the skins or rather Robots LOL.

If you do consider shopping for skins from other manufacturers, nothing is as good as Dbrand skins. I have even checked Slickwraps. Slickwraps offer fixed designs unlike Dbrand which is highly customisable. My personal recommendation for skin choices to go for.

1. Marble Finish
2. HyperBlack Titanium
3. Carbon Fiber black or white(MKBHD pack of 3 skins will also do)
4. Do not go for Matt Skins, as my iPhone has Matt skins and is a lot susceptible to Dust. If your ok with that then fine, but the black matt looks stealthy.
